Debating on making a film magazine front cover

The last ancillary task for the film trailer brief is to create a film magazine front cover for my film, the front cover will have to consist of my film with some deals that I could say go with the magazine, such as ;

· A free film poster

· A chance to win free film tickets

· Blogs about the film

· Film critiques reports

Positives of a film magazine front cover

· I can show off my technical ability by making an amazing front cover by combining pictures in front and behind of writing on the cover,. this will help me make a kick ass film front cover for my film.

· The magazine cover will also be able to test the benefit of the cover by asking members of the public if they would see my film from just looking at the cover.

· The front cover will let me show off my main characters in my film and let the target audience know who the main characters are but also give a little detail about the character in their clothing.

Here are some examples of real life film magazine front covers which I can take inspiration off of;

 

Here are 2 front covers for the films Iron Man (on the left) and The Dark Knight (on the right). Just by looking at these covers I can see that the whole page has a theme with the film, such as Iron man, the "Empire" is coloured with the same blue as in Iron man’s chest, this shows how the film is in connection with the magazine. By looking at both of the covers i can see that the character is in the centre of the magazine and also covering up the title of the magazine. This will be a great starting point for if I come to make my own front cover.

Negatives of a film magazine front cover

·         The negatives could be that by making a front cover it may be hard to get the technical ability in order to make a successful front cover.

·         Another negative could be that by making a magazine front cover, the whole concept of making a front cover i would have to come up with everything, from making the magazine title to making up all the offers that come with the magazine, such as give-aways from the newspaper.

From quickly researching the pros and cons of making a magazine front cover I have come to the conclusion that I will make a magazine front cover because I feel I can make an amazing front cover with my technical ability and also that I will be able to express my film on the front cover how I want to.
